Robert F. Barker was born in Liverpool, England and dedicated his career to serving as a police officer and detective for thirty years. Much of his career was spent working in and around some of the Northwest UK's grittiest towns and cities, where he gained extensive experience in investigating various major crimes.\n \nAs a senior detective, Barker led investigations into heinous crimes, including murder, armed robbery, serious sex crimes, and people and drug trafficking. He also commanded firearms and disorder incidents, which required him to make split-second life-and-death decisions in high-pressure situations. Barker's stories are grounded in the reality of police work, and he draws from his wealth of experience to create exciting, suspenseful, and intricate crime fiction.
Barker's writing style is dark and edgy, and his stories are credible enough to make readers believe they could be based on reality. During his career, he learned that no matter where people live or their position in society, they are never far from places where darkness dwells. He uses this insight to create authentic portrayals of crime and policing in his novels. Barker currently spends his writing time between his family home in Cheshire, UK, and the beautiful island of Cyprus, where he finds inspiration for a series of Cyprus-based thrillers.
