Robert K. Tanenbaum

Robert K. Tanenbaum is a highly successful American author, known for his crime and legal thriller novels. He has written numerous novels, many of which feature the characters Butch Karp and Marlene Ciampi. In addition to his work as an author, Tanenbaum is also a prominent trial lawyer with an impressive legal career.

Tanenbaum was born in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in the same locality. He earned a basketball scholarship to attend the University of California at Berkeley, where he studied before going on to earn a law degree from the Boalt Hall School of Law. After graduating, he moved back to New York and began working as an assistant district attorney under the historical New York County DA Frank Hogan. During his time as an ADA, Tanenbaum served as the Bureau Chief of the Criminal Courts, ran the Homicide Bureau, and was in charge of the legal staff training program. He later served as Deputy Chief Counsel for the Congressional committee investigations into the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, Jr.

In his legal career, Tanenbaum has never lost a felony case. After his time in New York, he returned to the West Coast and began serving in public office. He was elected to the Beverly Hills City Council in 1986 and served as the mayor of Beverly Hills twice. It was during this time that Tanenbaum began his career as a novelist, drawing from his experiences as a New York ADA. His successful debut novel, No Lesser Plea, introduces the character Butch Karp, an assistant district attorney fighting for justice. Tanenbaum has since published numerous novels, many of which feature Karp and his wife, Marlene Ciampi, as they face off against various criminal elements.
