Robert McCracken is an Irish author known for his crime fiction and contemporary novels. He is the creator of the DI Tara Grogan detective series, which includes fast-paced, page-turning mysteries set primarily in Liverpool. The series begins with "An Early Grave," followed by "The Daring Night," "The Silent Voices," "Lethal Dose," "Lethal Justice," "Lethal Minds," and "Deadly Conviction." McCracken has also written standalone novels such as "Bound to Run," "The Wife's Boyfriend," and "The Mourne Mountain Murders," the latter featuring father-daughter detectives Sidney and Ursula Valentine. His works are published by The Book Folks and are available in print, e-book, and audiobook formats.
Born in Belfast, McCracken spent part of his childhood in Australia before returning to Northern Ireland. He studied Chemistry at the University of Ulster and earned a PhD in agricultural food science from Queen's University, Belfast. Before turning to writing, he worked for thirty-four years at the Department of Agriculture, later the Agri-Food & Biosciences Institute. His background in science and his keen eye for detail inform his precise and engaging writing style. McCracken currently resides in County Down with his wife.
