Robert Muchamore

Robert Muchamore is a successful English author, best known for his spy, adventure, and thriller novels for young adults. He is the writer of the CHERUB and Henderson's Boys series, among others. Muchamore was born in Islington, London, in 1972 and grew up in the Tufnell Park neighborhood. As a child, he attended Johns Upper Holloway and Acland Burghley college. He originally considered careers as an architect, photographer, or writer, but ultimately chose the latter. However, he later joined a private investigation firm when he decided that his writing was not yet good enough.

Muchamore's writing career began in earnest when he was inspired by his nephew's complaint about the lack of suitable reading material for young adults. His first book, "CHERUB: The Recruit," was published in 2004 and went on to win the Red House Children's Book Award in the Older Readers Category the following year. The CHERUB series, which focuses on a fictional organization of young spies, became a number one international bestseller. In 2011, Muchamore announced a new trilogy centered on a new set of CHERUB agents, starting with "People's Republic."

In addition to the CHERUB series, Muchamore has written other successful novel series, including Henderson's Boys and Rock War, as well as standalone teen reads such as "Arctic Zoo" and "Killer T." His latest series, a Robin Hood retelling, was released in April 2020. Muchamore continues to reside in Islington and is an Arsenal fan. He is also known for his dislike of swimming and being chased by cows. Muchamore's writing has been credited as contributing to the success of the YA/Children's book explosion, including the Hunger Games phenomenon.
