Robin Ha is a accomplished comic and graphic novel author, who was born in Seoul, South Korea. As a young child, Ha developed a love for comics, a passion that would stay with her throughout her life. When she was fourteen, she moved to the United States, an experience that would later become the basis for her graphic memoir "Almost American Girl." Ha studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she was introduced to a wide variety of European and American comics that would influence her work. Some of her biggest inspirations include Mike Mignola and David Mazzucchelli's "Sandman" series, as well as French comics such as "Kerascoet" and "Mobius."
After graduating from RISD with a BFA in Illustration, Ha moved to New York City and began working as an illustrator for several fashion publications. Her work has been featured in numerous collections of short stories, including "Heavy Metal Magazine," "Secret Identities," "Marvel Comics," and "The Strumpet." In addition to her work in comics and graphic novels, Ha is also an accomplished cook and recipe developer. She has published "Cook Korean," a Korean recipe book, and blogs about Korean cuisine on "Banchan in 2 Pages," where she shares recipe comics. Ha currently resides in Falls Church, Virginia.
