Roger Taylor

Roger Taylor, who was born in Heywood, Lancashire in 1938, is a highly accomplished author known for his works in both fantasy fiction and non-fiction. He currently resides in the Wirral and has a wide range of interests and hobbies outside of writing.

Taylor is an avid shooter, with proficiency in rifles, pistols, and shotguns. He is also a dedicated student and instructor of aikido, a modern Japanese martial art characterized by its fluid movements and emphasis on throws and joint locks. In addition, Taylor is a chartered civil and structural engineer, showcasing his analytical and technical skills.

As a writer, Taylor has built up an impressive body of work. He wrote four books between 1983 and 1986, facing numerous rejections before his third manuscript was accepted by Headline. This acceptance marked the beginning of the Chronicles of Hawklan series, which became a commercial success. Despite his initial struggles, Taylor persevered and ultimately achieved his goal of becoming a published author.
