Roisin Meaney is a highly accomplished Irish author, known for her extensive writing for both adults and children. She was born on September 3rd and has published a total of twenty-three books, including twenty for adults and three for children. Prior to her career as an author, Meaney worked as an advertising copywriter, where she honed her skills in writing large quantities of work on a regular basis.
Meaney's first novel, "The Daisy Picker," won a Write a Bestseller competition, and her third novel, "The Last Week of May," reached number one on the Irish bestseller list. Her fourth novel, "The People Next Door," reached number two, and her books have been translated into several languages, with two published in the US. Currently, Meaney is working on her next book, which is scheduled for publication in autumn 2023.
In addition to her work as an author, Meaney has also had success in short story writing and has been shortlisted in the 2022 Irish Book Awards in the Library Association of Ireland Author of the Year category. Many of her novels have made it into the Irish bestseller list, with four of them forming a series set on Roone, a small make-believe island inspired by the real Valentia Island off the west coast of Ireland. Meaney's writing has been translated into several languages, including German, Spanish, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Dutch, Italian, Russian, Polish, and Slovenian, and several of her books have been published in Australia and New Zealand by Hachette Australia.
