Roshani Chokshi is a highly accomplished American author, best known for her work in children and young adult novels. She has written several popular series, including the Pandava Quintet series, the Gilded Wolves series, and the Star Touched Queen series. Chokshi's writing is celebrated for its imaginative and transportive qualities, taking readers on fantastical journeys that draw on a wide range of mythological and cultural influences.
Chokshi was born in a mixed-race home, with an Indian father and a Filipino mother. Growing up, she did not learn to speak either Indian or Filipino, and as a result, fairy tales became an important way for her to connect with her cultural heritage. The narratives of the Star Touched Queen series, in particular, are a celebration of Chokshi's childhood and her efforts to make sense of the world through the stories she encountered. Despite facing rejection several times, Chokshi remained dedicated to her dream of becoming a writer, even while studying law in college. In her final year, she balanced her time between interning at a law office and working on her first novel in the Star Touched Queen series.
Chokshi's work has received numerous accolades and critical acclaim. Her New York Times bestselling series, which includes the Star-Touched Queen duology, the Gilded Wolves, and Aru Shah and The End of Time, has been translated into more than two dozen languages. In addition to her success in young adult and middle grade fiction, Chokshi has also achieved success in the adult fiction market, with her debut novel, The Last Tale of The Flower Bride, becoming a #1 Sunday Times bestseller. Her writing is often inspired by world mythology and folklore, and she is a member of the National Leadership Board for the Michael C. Carlos Museum. Chokshi currently lives in Georgia with her husband and their cat.
