Janey King, also known as Rosie Thomas, is a highly acclaimed author who was born in Denbigh, Wales in 1947. She grew up in North Wales and went on to study English at Oxford. After working in journalism and publishing, Thomas began writing fiction following the birth of her first child. She has been publishing novels under the name Rosie Thomas since 1982, and has written fourteen best-selling books, many of which explore themes of love and loss.
Thomas has had a successful career as a writer, winning the Romantic Novel of the Year Award by the Romantic Novelists' Association twice, in 1985 with Sunrise, and in 2007 with Iris and Ruby. In addition to her writing, Thomas is also known for her love of adventure and travel. Once she was established as a writer and her children were grown, she discovered a passion for mountaineering and traveling. She has climbed in the Alps and Himalayas, competed in the Peking to Paris car rally, spent time on a small Bulgarian research station in Antarctica, and traveled the silk road through Asia.
Despite her many adventures, Thomas currently resides in London. Her love for mountaineering and travel has provided her with a wealth of experiences to draw from in her writing, and has no doubt contributed to the success of her fourteen best-selling novels. Through her writing and her adventures, Thomas has established herself as a well-respected and accomplished author and traveler.
