Rupert Holmes

Rupert Holmes, born as David Goldstein on February 24, 1947, in Northwich, Cheshire, England, is a multi-talented personality in the American entertainment industry. He is known for his works as an author, composer, songwriter, and dramatist. After moving to America with his British mother and Air Force father, Holmes graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and began his musical career as a successful piano player for the Cuff Links and the Buoys. He also wrote and arranged songs for several renowned artists, including Gene Pitney, The Platters, The Drifters, and the Partridge Family.\n \n Holmes' musical talent is not limited to songwriting and piano playing. He is also an accomplished dramatist, with his musical, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, earning him two Tony Awards. His other works include the musical mystery comedy, Curtains, and the comedy-drama TV series, Remember WENN, which aired on AMC from 1996 to 1998. In addition to his success in music and television, Holmes has also made a name for himself as a novelist, with his critically-acclaimed mystery, Where the Truth Lies, being a Booklist Top Ten Debut Novel. His second novel, Swing, was a San Francisco Chronicle Top Ten Best Seller, and his short stories have been anthologized in several prestigious collections.
