Ruth Ryan Langan

Ruth Ryan Langan is a highly respected and influential American author, known for her extensive backlog of work encompassing over 100 novels. Writing under various pen-names such as R.C. Ryan, Ruth Ryan Langan, and Eve Lang, she has created several successful brands and is a bestselling author in her own right.

Langan is an award-winning author of romance novels, with a focus on historical romance. She has won the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and has been nominated twice for the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Awards for her books Jade and Return of the Prodigal Son. Many of her novels are set in medieval times or are western romances, with some contemporary romances and suspenseful elements woven in.

Langan began her writing career in secret, but her family soon discovered her hobby when her children came home unexpectedly from school one day and found her writing. Her husband was supportive and bought her an electric typewriter to help with her writing. Her first book was published by Silhouette Books in 1981 after an editor picked it out of their slush pile, and she obtained an agent after her first sale was completed.
