Zhang Ling

Ζhang Ling is a highly acclaimed author, born in China in 1957. She later moved to Canada in 1986 to pursue higher education, earning a MA in English at the University of Calgary and a second MA degree in Communication Disorders at the University of Cincinnati. Zhang worked as a senior audiologist and fiction writer in Toronto, Canada.

Zhang Ling has established herself as a prolific writer, with numerous novels, novellas, and short story collections to her name. She began her writing career in the mid-1990s, publishing fiction in Chinese while working as a clinical audiologist. Her work has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Chinese Media Literature Award for Author of the Year, the Grand Prize of Overseas Chinese Literary Award, and Taiwan’s Open Book Award. Some of her most notable works include "A Single Swallow" (translated by Shelly Bryant), "Gold Mountain Blues" (translated by Nicky Harman), and "Aftershock," which was adapted into China's first IMAX movie with unprecedented box-office success. "Where Waters Meet" is her first novel written in English.
