Zoe Sharp is a highly acclaimed author of thriller novels, born in the United Kingdom. She is best known for her crime thriller series featuring the heroine Charlie Fox. Sharp's love for writing developed at a young age, and she wrote her first novel at the age of fifteen. After opting out of mainstream education at the age of twelve, Sharp became a freelance photojournalist in 1988, which eventually led to the creation of her Charlie Fox series.
Sharp's experiences as a photojournalist were not always easy, and she received death-threats in the course of her work. These threats inspired her to create the no-nonsense heroine, Charlie Fox, who is described as ill-tempered, aggressive, and borderline psychotic, but also compassionate, introspective, and highly principled. Sharp's writing has been praised for its strong and enigmatic female protagonists, and her work has won or been nominated for numerous awards both in the United States and the UK.
In addition to the Charlie Fox series, Sharp has also written a standalone crime thriller, "The Blood Whisperer," featuring another strong female protagonist, former CSI turned crime-scene cleaner, Kelly Jacks. Sharp has also collaborated with espionage thriller author John Lawton on a novella, "An Italian Job." Her work has been used in school textbooks in Denmark, made into a short film, optioned twice for TV and film, and inspired an original song.
Sharp currently resides in the Lake District and enjoys sailing, fast cars, and faster bikes in her free time. She has published twelve books in the Charlie Fox series, plus a novella, a short story anthology, two e-boxed sets, and numerous short stories. Her latest series features CSI Grace McColl and Detective Nick Weston, with the second book in the series, "Bones in the River," published in May 2020. Sharp's work continues to receive critical acclaim and popularity among readers, and she remains a prominent figure in contemporary genre fiction.
