Anita Diamant is an accomplished American author, born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Denver, Colorado. She earned her bachelor's degree in comparative literature from Washington University in St. Louis and later pursued her master's degree in American literature from Binghamton University in New York. Currently, she resides in Newton, Massachusetts, with her husband and has one adult daughter. Diamant's career as a writer began in journalism, contributing to various local and national publications such as the Boston Phoenix, the Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Yankee, Parents, Self, and Ms.
Diamant has authored twelve books, both fiction and non-fiction, with her debut novel, The Red Tent, becoming a bestseller in the US and over twenty-five countries. The novel, based on the biblical story of Dinah, explores the lives and experiences of biblical women. Diamant's other novels include Good Harbor, The Last Days of Dogtown, Day After Night, and The Boston Girl. Additionally, she has written six non-fiction guides to contemporary Jewish life, which have become classic reference books. Her latest book, PERIOD. END OF SENTENCE. A NEW CHAPTER IN THE FIGHT FOR MENSTRUAL JUSTICE, will be published in May 2021.
