Bonnie Nadzam is an accomplished American author, born in Cleveland, Ohio. She has pursued her higher education in various institutions across the country, obtaining a BA in English Literature and Environmental Studies from Carleton College, an MFA from Arizona State University, and an MA and PhD from the University of Southern California. Nadzam has also taught creative writing at Colorado College.
Nadzam has made significant contributions to the literary world through her fiction and essays, which have been published in numerous prestigious journals and magazines. These include Granta, Harper’s Magazine, Orion Magazine, A Public Space, The Iowa Review, Epoch, and The Kenyon Review, among others. Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Center for Fiction’s Flaherty Dunnan First Novel Award in 2011 for her debut novel, Lamb. This novel was also longlisted for the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction and has been translated into several languages.
In addition to Lamb, Nadzam has written a second novel, Lions, published by Grove Press in 2016, and was a USA PEN Finalist for Literary Fiction. She is also the co-author, with Dale Jamieson, of Love in the Anthropocene, published by OR Books in 2015. Her work has been anthologized in The Best American Short Stories and The Pushcart Prize anthologies. Despite her impressive accomplishments, Nadzam remains a humble and dedicated writer, committed to her craft and her passion for the environment, which is often reflected in her work.
