Brian Thiem is an accomplished American author, well-known for his crime fiction novels. Prior to his career as a writer, Thiem had a distinguished 25-year tenure with the Oakland Police Department. During his time with the department, he held a variety of positions, including patrol, special operations, vice narcotics, and homicide. Thiem's experience extended to commanding units such as special operations (SWAT) and Homicide as a lieutenant.
In addition to his service with the Oakland Police Department, Thiem also had a successful military career, retiring from the Army after 28 years of combined active and reserve duty, having attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His military assignments included various Military Police and Criminal Investigation Division (CID) roles, most notably a tour in Iraq as the Deputy Commander of the Criminal Investigation Group for the Middle East.
After his retirement from both the police force and the military, Thiem pursued his passion for writing, completing a Masters of Fine Arts program. He has also been an adjunct professor of criminal justice and a security consultant. Currently, Thiem resides in South Carolina and is an active member of the Mystery Writers of America. His debut novel, "Red Line," draws heavily on his extensive experience in law enforcement and the military.
