Claire Douglas

Claire Douglas is a highly successful author of psychological suspense novels, hailing from England. Douglas had a childhood dream of becoming a novelist, which she nurtured from the tender age of seven. Before realizing her ambition, she worked as a journalist, contributing features to women’s magazines and newspapers. Despite her success in journalism, Douglas never abandoned her dream of becoming a novelist, and her perseverance eventually paid off.

Douglas grew up in Bath and developed a deep love for reading and storytelling at an early age. She was particularly fond of Enid Blyton's novels, including "Mallory Towers," "Faraway Tree," and "Tom's Midnight Garden." Douglas' passion for storytelling was so profound that she would often make up stories and narrate them to her sister, much to her father's chagrin. Despite the occasional nightmares her stories caused, Douglas remained committed to her craft and pursued a career in journalism, viewing it as a more feasible option than fiction writing. However, her desire to write fiction proved too strong, and she began penning manuscripts, although none of them were published until "The Sisters" in 2015.

Douglas' debut novel, "The Sisters," won the Marie Claire Debut Novel Award in 2013, marking the beginning of her successful writing career. She has since published eight standalone novels, including "Local Girl Missing," "Last Seen Alive," "Do Not Disturb," "Then She Vanishes," "Just Like The Other Girls," "The Couple At No 9," "The Girls Who Disappeared," and "The Woman Who Lied." Her books have sold over a million copies in the UK alone and have been published worldwide. Douglas' writing is influenced by various authors, including Nicci French, Harriet Lane, Clare Mackintosh, Margaret Atwood, Kate Atkinson, Stephen King, Donna Tartt, Philip Pullman, and Kate Morton. She is active on social media, with a presence on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
