David P. Wagner is a bestselling mystery fiction author, who is well-known for his "Rick Montoya Italian Mystery" series. Originally from Portland, Wagner spent a significant portion of his career working for the foreign service, which allowed him to live in various parts of the world. Among his assignments were nine years in Italy, where he developed a deep appreciation for Italian culture, history, and food.
While working for the foreign service, Wagner met his wife at Michigan State University. After getting married, the couple moved together to different parts of the world as Wagner continued his work in the foreign service. After retiring, Wagner spent several years writing tourist materials for small Italian towns. It was during this time that he decided to add his own stories to the rich history and culture of Italy, leading him to create the Rick Montoya mystery series.
The Rick Montoya series features a dual-national translator who shares Wagner's love for Italy.
