E.M. Foner is a distinguished American author, well-known for his work in the science fiction and fantasy genres. He is the mastermind behind two popular book series, the AI Diaries series and the EarthCent Ambassador series. The latter is particularly famous and is what brought Foner to the forefront of science fiction storytelling. Foner was born and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts. Before embarking on a career as a novelist, he was involved in running a small business. However, when the business suffered a significant loss, Foner was left devastated and found himself jobless for around twenty years. In his desperation, he decided to try his hand at writing, and to everyone's surprise, he excelled at it. Since then, Foner has written many captivating novels that have been well-received by readers worldwide.
Foner wrote "Date Night on Union Station" as a break from his work on a science fiction epic he had been struggling with for years. The goal was to cheer himself up and to determine if there was still an audience for a science fiction comedy that derived its humor from witty dialogue and amusing situations rather than from shock value. The EarthCent series is appropriate for a wide range of audiences, with no graphic violence, sex, or foul language. After receiving numerous requests to expand the "Date Night" universe into a series, Foner put his epic aside for an extended period to write a sequel, "Alien Night on Union Station." Foner has also started a new book that expands the EarthCent galaxy with a different mission and cast of characters, though they may intersect at some point.
