Erin Morgenstern is a successful American author, best known for her fantasy novels. She was born in Marshfield, Massachusetts, where she grew up. She pursued her love for the arts and theater by studying studio art and theater at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Although she studied playwriting in college, she never finished any plays. However, her interest in writing persisted, and she would later become a serious writer.
