Gary McAvoy

Gary McAvoy is an accomplished American author, known for his thrilling fiction series and his work in nonfiction. Originally from California, McAvoy now resides in the Pacific Northwest. He is best known for his thriller series "The Magdalene Chronicles" and its sequel series, "Vatican Secret Archive Thrillers".

In addition to his fiction work, McAvoy has also made a name for himself in the world of nonfiction. His book "And Every Word Is True" is a follow-up to Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" and has received critical acclaim. McAvoy's passion for collecting handwritten history and historical documents has also played a significant role in his writing projects.

McAvoy's career in writing began early, with his work for a small-town newspaper and regional Southern California magazines. He later moved on to corporate communications for his own high-tech businesses and client projects. In 1997, he founded VintageMemorabilia.com, an online gallery of authentic signed letters, documents, manuscripts, books, photographs, and other memorabilia of historical or cultural significance. This passion for collecting and holding history in his hands has been a significant influence on his writing.

In addition to his writing, McAvoy has also been involved in various other projects. From 1999 to 2005, he worked closely with primatologist and animal ethicist Dr. Jane Goodall, serving as Seattle Base Camp Chair for the Jane Goodall Institute and managing Northwest fundraising efforts in support of the Institute’s global initiatives. In 2003, he convinced Jane to speak to global food issues, and in 2005, they co-authored "Harvest for Hope: A Guide to Mindful Eating" with Gail Hudson.
