Jonathan P. Brazee is a retired Marine Colonel and a prolific author, best known for his Ghost Marines and The Navy of Humankind: Wasp Squadron series. Originally from Oakland, California, Brazee has lived in various parts of the United States and other countries, having visited over 100 countries in his lifetime. He earned his undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy and went on to attend the United States International University and the University of California, where he received his graduate degree and a master’s degree and doctorate, respectively.
Brazee is a multi-talented individual, with interests and achievements in various fields. Aside from his military and writing careers, he has received awards in cooking, photography, and different sports. He is a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the US. Naval Academy Alumni Association, and the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, where he currently serves as the chairman of SFWA Ed, their professional education program.
Brazee has been writing since 1978, with his first work being a short story titled “Secession.” He has since been published in various formats and fields, including newspapers, magazines, and books. After a hiatus, Brazee returned to writing fiction in 2009 and has since published over 80 titles, with 53 of them being novels. Some of his notable works include “Weaponized Math,” which was a finalist for the 2017 Nebula Award, and “Fire Ant,” which was a finalist for the 2018 Nebula Award for Best Novella. His novel “Integration” was a finalist for the 2018 Dragon Award for Best Military Science Fiction or Fantasy Novel, and “Sentenced to War” was a finalist for the 2021 Dragon Award in the same category. He is also a USA Today Bestselling writer. Brazee currently resides in Colorado Springs with his wife and twin baby girls, where he continues to write and pursue his various interests.
