Julie Kenner is a successful American author, well-known for her works in the romance, paranormal romance, fantasy, and erotica genres. She writes under the pen name J. Kenner, particularly for her erotica novels. Some of her popular series include the Protector/Superhero, Kate Connor: Demon Hunter, Shadow Keepers (as J.K. Beck), and Stark Trilogy series (as J. Kenner).
Born in Mountain View, California, Kenner grew up in Austin, Texas, with her mother, a secretary, and her father, an aeronautical engineer. As a young girl, she already showed a keen interest in writing, even telling her parents about her dreams of becoming a novelist. She wrote her first story, Kitty Claws, as a child and continued to write stories and poetry throughout her college years. Kenner earned a Bachelor's degree in radio-television-film from the University of Texas at Austin and then attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, for her law degree. She practiced law in California and Texas before deciding to focus on her writing career full-time in 2004.
J. Kenner is a prolific author, having written over seventy novels, novellas, and short stories across various genres. She is particularly known for her erotic romances, which have been bestsellers in the United States and internationally. Her Stark and Most Wanted series have reached as high as #2 on the New York Times bestseller list and #1 internationally. Kenner's writing has been praised by Publishers Weekly for her "flair for dialogue and eccentric characterizations" and by RT Bookclub for her ability to create "sinfully attractive, dominant antiheroes and the women who swoon for them." In 2014, she won the prestigious RITA award for her novel, Claim Me (book 2 of her Stark Trilogy).
In addition to her success as a novelist, Kenner is a dedicated philanthropist, supporting various charities, with Love Without Boundaries being one of her favorites. Before becoming a full-time writer, Kenner practiced law in California and Texas. She worked as a clerk on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and specialized in civil, entertainment, and First Amendment litigation. Kenner currently resides in central Texas with her husband, two daughters, and several cats.
