Kody Keplinger is a successful author, best known for her works in romance, young adult, and humor genres. She was born in a small town in Kentucky and had a very limited choice for high school, as there was only one for the entire county. With about a hundred students in her graduating class, the school offered basic English classes and some advanced options like AP and honors English classes. Keplinger never received any formal training in creative writing, and her early writing was mostly done as part of her regular English classes. Despite this, she has become a USA Today and New York Times bestselling author by the age of 24, with several novellas, a middle-grade novel, and four young adult titles to her name.
Keplinger's debut novel, "The Duff," was published when she was just 17 years old, during her senior year of high school. She has since written two more books for teens, "Shut Out" and "A Midsummer's Nightmare," as well as a book for middle-grade readers, "The Swift Boys & Me." Keplinger's writing is known for its honesty and true-to-life approach, making her a popular author among teenagers. She currently resides in New York City, where she continues to write young adult and fantasy novels while teaching writing workshops on the side.
Kody Keplinger's earliest memory is of sitting at an old typewriter, pressing random keys as she told her mother the story she thought she was writing. Once she learned to spell, the writing never stopped. She has been writing ever since, and her work has been widely recognized and acclaimed. In addition to her novels, Keplinger is also an advocate for honest and authentic storytelling for teenagers. She is an inspiration for young writers and demonstrates that it is possible to achieve success at a young age with hard work and dedication. When she's not writing, Keplinger can be found teaching writing workshops or watching TV, always surrounded by her giant children's book collection.
