Marta Perry

Marta Perry is a successful author of Christian-themed romance ovels, who has been writing for several decades. Born in rural Pennsylvania, Marta had dreamt of becoming a writer since she was eight years old, inspired by the Nancy Drew novels she read. She began her writing career as an adult, creating children's stories for Sunday School, which eventually led to her writing stories for magazines. Marta's Amish roots and upbringing in rural Pennsylvania have significantly influenced her writing, particularly in her Pleasant Valley series. She also writes the Flanagans and Brotherhood of the Raven series.

Marta is a woman of simple pleasures who enjoys reading, gardening, baking, and taking care of her six grandchildren. She is married and lives with her husband in an old farmhouse in Pennsylvania, spending their winters in South Carolina. When she's not writing, Marta is an active member of her church community and enjoys spending time with her family.

Marta realized she wanted to be a writer at the age of eight, inspired by the Nancy Drew novel, The Secret of the Old Clock. However, the dream lay dormant for years as she became a teacher, got married, and had children. Eventually, the dream resurfaced, and she began writing, starting with short children's stories for Sunday school take-home papers. It took some time before she received her first acceptance, but she eventually began to sell her work. She has since published over sixty novels, with her Amish roots and rural Pennsylvania life influencing many of her books.

Marta's writing journey has been a mix of excitement and self-doubt, but she continues to feel the same thrill every time she begins a new book. She has written several series, including the Pleasant Valley Amish series for Berkley Books and a new Amish-set suspense series for HQN Books. She also writes a Love Inspired series about the Amish, The Brides of Lost Creek. In her spare time, Marta enjoys church activities, traveling, and spending time with her three children and six grandchildren.
