Marty Ambrose is an accomplished American author, known for her work in historical and contemporary mystery novels. She has penned the Mango Bay Mysteries series and is also the author of the Claire Clairmont Historical Mysteries. Ambrose has a knack for creating characters who are willing to take risks, whether in pursuit of love or in the face of danger. She currently resides in Southwest Florida with her husband, Jim, and their dog, where she continues to write and create engaging stories.
In addition to her work as an author, Ambrose has also worked as a creative writing teacher at Southern New Hampshire University for close to two decades. She has a passion for teaching and has helped countless students hone their writing skills. Ambrose has also published eight works and has plans to continue writing and traveling for research in the future.
Marty Ambrose-McLaughlin, also known as M. A. McLaughlin, is a prolific writer of historical mysteries, with a focus on literary women who dare to follow their dreams. She has published a trilogy of novels set around the Byron/Shelley circle in nineteenth-century Italy, earning rave reviews from Publisher's Weekly and a gold medal for historical fiction from the Florida Writers Association. Her work has been featured internationally in blogs, journals, and websites. She is currently working on a new stand-alone historical mystery with women’s fiction elements, The Lost Dresses of Italy, which is set to be published in February, 2024. In addition to her work as an author, Ambrose-McLaughlin is also an accomplished educator. She holds an M.Phil. from the University of York (England) and teaches nineteenth-century British literature, composition, and fiction writing at Florida Southwestern State College. She has also given numerous workshops in the U.S. and abroad on all aspects of creating/publishing a novel. She is a member of several professional organizations, including The Byron Society, Historical Novel Society, Florida Writers Association, Mystery Writers of America, and the Women's Fiction Writers Association. She currently resides in SW Florida with her husband, retired news-anchor, Jim McLaughlin, and their golden Labrador rescue pup, Luna.
