Matthew Bell is a renowned author, born on August 29, 1980, in Saginaw, Michigan. He pursued his higher education at Bowling Green University. In 2012, he became an assistant professor in the English department at Northern Michigan University.
Bell has written numerous books, including his latest novel, "Appleseed," published by Custom House in July 2021. He also has a craft book titled "Refuse to Be Done" which is a guide to novel writing, rewriting, and revision, set to be released by Soho Press in early 2022. His other works include the novels "Scrapper" and "In the House upon the Dirt between the Lake and the Woods," as well as a short story collection titled "A Tree or a Person or a Wall." He has also authored a non-fiction book about the classic video game "Baldur's Gate II." Bell's writing has been featured in several prestigious publications such as The New York Times, Esquire, Orion, Tin House, Conjunctions, Fairy Tale Review, and American Short Fiction. Currently, he resides in Arizona where he teaches creative writing at Arizona State University.
