Michael Lewis is a highly acclaimed author, best known for his New York Times bestselling books such as "Moneyball," "The Big Short," and "The Blind Side." Each of these titles has been adapted into major Hollywood films, reaching a wide audience and showcasing Lewis's ability to delve into complex subjects with clarity and insight.
Lewis was born in New Orleans and grew up in New Orleans and suburban New York. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in art history from Princeton University in 1982. After graduation, he wrote for the New York Times and moved to London to work for the London newspaper, The Daily Telegraph. It was during this time that he began to develop his writing style and tackle subjects that would become his hallmark.
In 1989, Lewis published his first book, "Liar's Poker," a story based on his experiences working for Salomon Brothers as a bond salesman. The book quickly became a bestseller and established Lewis as a talented writer and observer of the financial world. Since then, he has written about a diverse range of topics, from the internet boom and Silicon Valley to the African American experience living on the streets of Memphis.
In "The Blind Side," Lewis tells the story of Michael Oher, a homeless teenager who was taken in by a wealthy family and went on to become a first-round NFL draft pick. The book explores issues of race, class, and the American dream, and has been widely praised for its sensitivity and nuance.
Lewis currently lives in Berkeley, California, with his wife, Tabitha Soren, and their three children. He continues to write and publish books that challenge and engage readers, cementing his place as one of the most important and influential authors of our time.
