Mike Grist is a British-American author, who is best known for his Christopher Wren series of thriller novels. His debut book in the series, "Saint Justice," was published in 2019. Grist is a pseudonym used by Michael John Grist, who has also written fantasy and science fiction novels under his real name.
Grist was born in the United Kingdom to a British father and American mother, and spent his childhood traveling between the family farm in Kentucky and a terraced house in Manchester. As a young adult, he finished his last year of high school in Indiana, embarked on a cross-country Greyhound journey, and worked at a summer camp in Massachusetts. Grist's fascination with human behavior led him to pursue a degree in Psychology, followed by a Masters in motivation theory.
After backpacking through India, Grist moved to Tokyo, Japan, where he lived for 11 years, teaching English and exploring the city's darker corners. He became interested in the country's gangs, cults, and abandoned places, documenting his findings through photography and articles featured in the Guardian and the Daily Mail. Now based in London, Grist leads a writers' group, enjoys playing ultimate frisbee, and spends time with his wife and two cats. In addition to the Christopher Wren series, Grist also writes science fiction and fantasy novels under the name Michael John Grist.
