Paul Garrison is a pseudonym used by the American author Justin Scott. He has also written under the pen names J.S. Blazer and Alexander Cole. Scott is well-known for his series of detective thrillers, but as Paul Garrison, he has found success in writing sea stories. These novels, which he writes as Paul Garrison, have become popular and critically acclaimed.
Garrison's love for the sea can be traced back to his childhood, where he was regaled with seafaring stories from his grandfather. His father added to this interest by sharing tales of their family patriarch, who spent much of his adult life sailing the South Seas in square-rigged sailing ships. This early exposure to life on the high seas has influenced Garrison's writing, with his novels often featuring women and men who sail modern vessels such as express liners, tugboats, attack submarines, mega yachts, high-tech catamarans, and sailing boats.
In addition to his work as Paul Garrison, Scott has also written several detective mysteries under his own name. These include the Ben Abbott mysteries, which are set in Newbury, Connecticut, and three freestanding novels: A Pride of Royals, The Normandie, and The Shipkiller. Scott has also collaborated with fellow detective mystery writer Clive Cussler to author the Isaac Bell detective adventure series. He has been twice shortlisted for the Mystery Writers of America Edgar Award under the names Justin Scott and J.S. Blazer. Scott is a member of the Adams Round Table, The Players, and the Authors League. He currently resides in Connecticut with his wife, the filmmaker Amber Edwards.
