Paul Sussman

Paul Sussman was a critically acclaimed English author, known for his thriller novels. He was born on July 11, 1966, in Beaconsfield and was educated at Merchant Taylors' School and St. John's College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge, Sussman won a Joseph Larmor Award and a boxing blue. Sussman's novels have been translated into 33 languages and are mainly set in Egypt, a country he was deeply connected to through his work as a field archaeologist.

Sussman's career as a novelist is marked by his intelligent and thought-provoking thrillers, which have been favorably compared to The Da Vinci Code. His writing was not limited to fiction, however, as he was also an accomplished journalist. He wrote a satirical column called "In the News" for The Big Issue, which won him a Columnist of the Year Award from the Periodical Publishers Association. Sussman's journalistic contributions also appeared in various publications such as The Independent, The Guardian, The Evening Standard, The Daily Telegraph, The Spectator, Cosmopolitan, and CNN.com.

In addition to his writing, Sussman was an archaeologist who specialized in Egypt. His work as a field archaeologist took him to the Valley of the Kings, where he made significant discoveries, including unearthing the only items of pharaonic jewelry to have been excavated in the Valley since the discovery of Tutankhamun in 1922. Sussman's expertise in Egyptology is reflected in his novels, which often incorporate historical and cultural elements of the region.

Tragically, Sussman passed away on May 31, 2012, from a ruptured aneurysm, leaving behind a wife and two sons. His legacy as a writer and archaeologist continues to inspire and captivate readers, showcasing his unique ability to blend historical and cultural elements with thrilling narratives.
