Renée Rosen is a bestselling American author, well-known for her young adult and historical fiction books. She was born and raised in Akron, Ohio, and attended The American University. Prior to becoming a full-time author, Rosen worked as an advertising copywriter.
Rosen has written several historical fiction novels, including "The Social Graces," "Park Avenue Summer," "What the Lady Wants," "Windy City Blues," "White Collar Girl," and "Dollface." She has also written a young adult novel titled "Every Crooked Pot." Her latest novel, "Fifth Avenue Glamour Girl," about the cosmetics icon, Estée Lauder, was published in April 2023. Rosen is currently working on a new novel about Ruth Handler, the creator of Barbie, which is scheduled for release in 2025.
From a young age, Rosen knew she wanted to be a writer and completed her first novel at seventeen. However, it was not until later that she became an avid reader and began to study the craft of writing. She has had the opportunity to learn from notable novelists such as Michael Cunningham, Susan Minot, and Carol Anshaw. Rosen now resides in Chicago, where she continues to write and work on her novels.
Rosen's novel "Dollface" has been praised as intoxicating and vividly rendered, with gun molls that stir up trouble reminiscent of Boardwalk Empire. "What the Lady Wants" has been described as fun, addictive, and Chicago-licious, with a delightful charm. Rosen's work has received several accolades, including being a Popular Book for Young Adults by YALSA in 2010 and receiving starred reviews from Booklist and School Library Journal.
