Rick Murcer is an American author, well-known for his crime, mystery, and thriller novels. He is particularly famous for the Manny Williams book series. Originally from Michigan, Murcer started his writing career later in life, after losing his job during the economic downturn in 2008. With no success in finding a new job, Murcer decided to try his hand at writing, a career path that would ultimately lead him to become a New York Times and USA Today best-selling author (Murcer, n.d.).
After the success of his first three books, Caribbean Moon, Deceitful Moon, and Emerald Moon, Murcer continued to write, publishing his work independently and defying conventional wisdom about self-publishing. He has since published multiple novels and short stories, including "Herb's Home Run" and "The First One," the latter being the first case of Manny Williams and Sophie's adventures (Murcer, n.d.). Murcer's writing career has been a testament to his hard work and determination, as well as his belief in setting goals and achieving them with the help of God's blessings (Murcer, n.d.).
In addition to his writing career, Murcer is a family man who is married and has two grown children and five grandchildren. He is also a dog lover and has had several pets, including a blind black Labrador named Max, who served as his "writing" dog, and two current pets, Braxton and Beaux (Murcer, n.d.). Despite the success of his writing career, Murcer remains humble and encourages others to pursue their dreams and goals, just as he did.
