Sarah A. Hoyt was born in Portugal and now resides in Colorado with her husband, two sons, and a fluctuating number of cats. Before becoming a successful author, Hoyt had a diverse range of jobs, including tying bows on bags of potpourri, washing dishes, ironing clothes, and working as a multilingual scientific translator. Eventually, she decided to leave behind the world of honest work and pursue a career in writing.
Hoyt has over 30 published novels to her name, spanning various genres such as science fiction, fantasy, mystery, historical mystery, historical fantasy, and historical biography. She has also published short stories in well-known magazines such as Analog, Asimov's, Amazing Stories, and Weird Tales, as well as numerous anthologies from DAW and Baen. Her space-opera novel "Darkship Thieves" won the 2011 Prometheus Award, and the third novel in the series, "A Few Good Men," was a finalist for the same honor. Additionally, Hoyt has won the Dragon Award for "Uncharted," which she co-wrote with Kevin J. Anderson.
Under various pseudonyms, including Sarah D'Almeida, Elise Hyatt, and Sarah Marqués, Hoyt has continued to produce captivating stories for her readers.
