Shirley Damsgaard, an author residing in a small town in Iowa, has always been interested in the paranormal, which is reflected in her writing. She has been serving as Postmaster for the past twenty years, and in her free time, she enjoys gardening, reading, and needlepoint. Damsgaard's writing journey did not begin until she was 48 years old, after her late husband suggested she try her hand at mysteries, given her knack for deducing how movies would end.
Damsgaard's first attempt at writing was a romance novella, which she found to be unsuccessful. However, she did not let this setback deter her, and instead, she combined her husband's suggestion with her lifelong interest in the paranormal. This led to the creation of Ophelia and Abby, the main characters in her mystery series. Damsgaard found solace in creating the series during a difficult time in her life, and it has since become a significant part of her world.
In addition to her work as an author, Damsgaard has published numerous short stories. She continues to write mysteries that touch upon the paranormal, with her latest Ophelia and Abby mystery in progress. Despite her success as an author, Damsgaard remains humble and grateful for the opportunities that have come her way. She values her career as Postmaster and her family, all of whom live within driving distance in the same small town where she has resided for over twenty years.
