Stephanie Grace Whitson is an accomplished American author, best known for her Christian-themed historical romance novels and non-fiction works. Originally from southern Illinois, Stephanie has lived in Nebraska for over 40 years, where she began writing fiction after homeschooling her children. Her interest in Nebraska history, particularly the lives of pioneer women in the West, provided the inspiration for her to start writing.
Whitson's first book, Walks the Fire, was published in 1995, and since then, her fiction titles have frequently appeared on the ECPA bestseller list. Her works have also been finalists for several prestigious awards, including the Christy Award, the Inspirational Reader's Choice Award, and ForeWord Magazine's Book of the Year. In addition to her fiction works, Stephanie has also written non-fiction, with her first book, How to Help a Grieving Friend, released in 2005.
Stephanie's writing career has been marked by perseverance and determination. Despite being rejected by publishing houses when she sent her first pitch, she received a better offer soon after the disappointment. Thomas Nelson Publishers decided to publish not one, but three of her books, two of which eventually became best-sellers on the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association list.
In addition to her writing, Stephanie is actively involved in her local church and keeps up with her children, including two married children, two college students, and a high school senior. She enjoys motorcycle trips with her family and church friends, and her passionate interests in pioneer women's history, antique quilts, and French, Italian, and Hawaiian language and culture provide endless story-telling possibilities.
