Stephen Puleo

Stephen Puleo is an accomplished author, historian, teacher, public speaker, and communications professional. He has published seven narrative history books, with his eighth book, "The Great Abolitionist: Charles Sumner and the Fight for a More Perfect Union," set to be published by St. Martin’s Press in April 2024. His works have been well-received, with all of his books becoming Boston regional bestsellers and receiving national recognition.

Puleo's books have been reviewed favorably by numerous national media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal, the New Yorker, the Boston Globe, the New York Post, Parade magazine, and Publishers Weekly. His dynamic and engaging speaking style has made him a popular choice for appearances, with over 650 speaking events under his belt. He has spoken at various venues, including bookstores, universities, libraries, historical societies, and book clubs. His books have also been incorporated into the curricula of numerous high schools and colleges, and more than 30 communities have selected his books as community-wide reads.

In addition to his work as an author and speaker, Puleo is also an experienced teacher and communications professional. He holds a master's degree in history from UMass-Boston and has taught history at Suffolk University in Boston and UMass-Boston. He has also developed and taught numerous writing workshops for high school and college students, as well as for adults who aspire to be writers. Puleo is a Massachusetts Historical Society Fellow and has received the prestigious i migliori award from the Pirandello Lyceum. He and his wife, Kate, donate a portion of his book proceeds to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
