Steven Dunne is a British author, born in West Yorkshire, England. He attended the University of Kent, where he studied minimally but still managed to graduate with honors. Before turning to fiction, Dunne wrote articles for quality newspapers on dull subjects. He also wrote the book for the Latchmere Theatre's award-winning fringe production of Hansel and Gretel in 1989. In addition, he co-wrote the revue, It's Mad Mad World, We're Plastered, and played the role of Teddy in the same theatre's production of Harold Pinter's The Homecoming the same year.
In 1996, Dunne moved to Derby, his adopted hometown, where he began to contemplate writing a novel. After being captivated by Thomas Harris' The Silence of the Lambs, Dunne noticed that most thrillers failed to deliver on their promises of excitement. Therefore, in 2007, he self-published Reaper, a thriller about a serial killer who strikes in Derby, featuring the hyper-intelligent but mentally troubled detective, DI Damen Brook. Despite spending two fruitless years marketing the novel to the publishing industry, the book sold over 1500 copies in the East Midlands and received very encouraging reviews. Harper Collins bought the rights, and The Reaper was released internationally in 2009. A sequel, The Disciple, was released in August 2010, and both books were critically acclaimed. Dunne signed a publishing deal at Headline to release the next DI Brook thriller Deity, which was released in June 2012. His latest book, The Resurrection, is the seventh book in the series and the long-awaited final book in the Reaper trilogy.
