Ted Kosmatka

Ted Kosmatka's early aspirations were centered on becoming a writer. However, his journey to becoming a successful author was not a straightforward one. Initially, he faced numerous rejections and decided to pursue a biology degree, but he dropped out before graduating. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, he became a steel mill worker in northwest Indiana, where he was born and raised. But when the mill went bankrupt, Kosmatka found himself in search of new opportunities.\n \n Kosmatka's career took a series of unexpected turns, including working various lab jobs and eventually securing a position at a research lab. It was during this time that he began to take his writing more seriously, and his hard work paid off. His fiction has been nominated for prestigious awards such as the Nebula and Sturgeon awards, and he has won the Asimov's Readers' Choice Award twice. Kosmatka's work has been reprinted in numerous Year's Best anthologies and translated into several languages, solidifying his status as a respected and accomplished author.

Before becoming a full-time author, Kosmatka spent over a decade working in the video game industry as a writer. His novel, The Flicker Men, was highly praised by Publishers Weekly as one of the best thrillers of the summer. Despite facing numerous rejections early on in his career, Kosmatka's perseverance and dedication to his craft have earned him recognition as a talented and accomplished writer in the science fiction and thriller genres.
