Thomas J. Thorson is a mystery author who made the decision to pursue writing later in life, after spending several decades working as a lawyer. Thorson attended the University of Illinois, where he majored in English, but chose to become a lawyer instead of pursuing his dream of becoming a writer. However, the writing bug eventually caught up with him, and he has since focused on publishing his work. Thorson is best known for his debut novel, Serendipity, as well as his Malcom Winters series. His unique writing style and storytelling skills are evident in his work, indicating a promising future in writing.
Thorson is a father to three daughters and, in his free time, enjoys traveling and creating different ice-cream flavors. According to his own account, he spent several decades as a lawyer before resolving to finally sit down and write the great American novel. However, he became sidetracked and ended up producing a non-fiction book about the vagaries of chance entitled "Serendipity: Seemingly Random Events, Insignificant Decisions, and Accidental Discoveries that Altered History." It wasn't until later that he finally began writing novels, and he has since published four books in the Malcom Winters series.
Thorson's writing journey began at a young age, with 329 attempts to write the Great American Novel starting at age 14. Despite his early efforts, he did not publish his first novel until much later in life. Thorson holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Illinois, as well as minors in psychology and mathematics. However, he admits that he became useless in helping his daughters with their algebra homework by the time they entered the ninth grade. Despite his early career as a lawyer, Thorson has since embraced his passion for writing and has become a successful mystery author. He currently resides in Oak Park, Illinois, and enjoys spending his free time watching the bees and butterflies in his garden, baking, and making artisan ice cream.
