Victoria "V.E." Schwab is an American author, born on July 7, 1987, to a British mother and a father from Beverly Hills. She grew up on the west coast but pursued her studies in the south, attending Washington University in St. Louis for Communication Design. Before becoming a successful author, Schwab worked various jobs, including being a personal chef, an assistant caterer, and a clerk in a department store. She currently resides in Nashville.
Schwab is a prolific writer, having authored more than twenty books for children, teenagers, and adults. She is well-known for her works that explore the darker side of magic, such as the "Shades of Magic" series. Her young adult and children's fiction, published under the name Victoria Schwab, has gained her significant recognition. One of her notable works, "Vicious," received the top spot in The American Library Association's Reference and User Services Association Reading List in 2013. The book's film rights were subsequently bought by Ridley Scott's Scott Free Productions and Story Mining & Supply Company.
In addition to "Vicious," Schwab's other works, including "The Archived" and "The Darker Shade of Magic," have received critical acclaim and starred reviews from publications like Publishers Weekly. Moreover, her creations have been translated into over two dozen languages and optioned for television and film. An example of this is "First Kill," a YA vampire series based on Schwab's short story, which is currently in development at Netflix with Emma Roberts’ Belletrist Productions producing. Despite her international success, Schwab can often be found tucked away in a corner of a coffee shop, dreaming up new monsters and stories. She divides her time between Edinburgh, Scotland, and Paris, France.
