Veteran chemical engineer turned author, Vilmos Kondor, was born in Budapest, Hungary on November 27, 1954. He pursued his higher education in Szeged, his home country, before moving to Paris to complete his studies. At the prestigious Sorbonne, he graduated in the field of chemical engineering.
After finishing his education in Paris, Kondor returned to Hungary and began teaching mathematics and physics at a high school. His foray into the world of literature began in 2008 when his first novel, Budapest Noir, was published in Hungary. The book features the journalist Zsigmond Gordon as the protagonist, who appears in five of Kondor's novels. Kondor is a private individual who prefers to keep a low profile, giving interviews only on rare occasions. He currently resides in a small village near Sopron with his wife, two daughters, and dog. In his spare time, he enjoys baking.
