William Gibson

William Gibson is an acclaimed American-Canadian author, known for his significant contributions to speculative fiction, particularly in the sub-genres of cyberpunk and steampunk. He is widely regarded as the father of cyberpunk, having coined the term "cyberspace" in 1982, which he later popularized in his groundbreaking debut novel, Neuromancer. Published in 1984, Neuromancer became a bestseller and is the only novel to have won the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award.

Gibson's work has had a profound impact on the science fiction genre, influencing not only other authors but also academia, cyberculture, and technology. His novels, including Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, Virtual Light, Idoru, All Tomorrow's Parties, and Pattern Recognition, have been praised for their thought-provoking exploration of technology and its impact on society. In addition to his novels, Gibson has written articles for major publications and collaborated with performance artists, filmmakers, and musicians.

Despite his significant contributions to the field of technology and its depiction in fiction, Gibson himself is not particularly interested in technology. Instead, he is fascinated by how people behave around and are affected by technology. This interest is evident in his work, which often explores the intersection of technology and humanity. Gibson's writing is characterized by its vivid imagery, complex characters, and intricate plotlines, making him a highly respected and influential figure in the world of speculative fiction.
