William Joyce

William Joyce is a highly accomplished children's book author, hailing from Shreveport. He gained significant attention when his animated short film "The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore" won the Academy Award in 2012. Joyce was born in 1957 to a family of artists, actors, and other creative professionals, and he demonstrated an early interest in creative pursuits. As a young child, he was captivated by Maurice Sendak's works and began creating his own drawings and stories. By the time he was in elementary school, Joyce was writing and illustrating his own graphic picture books, and he continued to develop his artistic skills throughout high school and college.
